2016-2017 Season Announcement
February 02, 2016
The 2016-2017 Season of Main Stage shows to be produced by the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies.
We are delighted to share with you the 2016-2017 Season of Main Stage shows to be produced by the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies.
This year we continue to interweave new work with the classical genre. We introduce our students to visiting professionals who serve side-by-side with our superb faculty and students, as directors, designers, and choreographers in the Season, and we ask the difficult questions faced by the nation and the world. We reflect back to the human condition, and we engage in deep dialogue and research into the issues confronted by a society that is pluralistic and that embodies diverse histories and world views.
The classroom of performance and performance studies for these University of Maryland students allows them to understand the critical role audience plays in the creation of art and how to focus their education, training, and disciplines into the ephemeral moment of live performance.
Your participation--whether it is as audience, scholar, writer, dancer, actor, designer, director, stage manager, dramaturg, producer, choreographer, instructor, scholarship donor, or staff supervision and support--is essential to our successes within the School. We hope you will engage deeply with our process again this year. We look for you at rehearsals, performances, collaborative engagements, and celebrations of the Arts and Humanities at UMD!
