Adjunct Professor, Aaron Posner's off broadway hit "My Name is Asher Lev" was just extended Off Broadway

TDPS adjunct faculty member Aaron Posner's critically acclaimed play, My Name is Asher Lev has been extended Off- Broadway at The WestSide Arts Center.
Posner who has been teaching in the TDPS MFA Design program as a guest director in The Design Master Class (with award- winning design professors Dan Conway, Misha Kachman and Brian MacDevitt) for the past few years, has written several plays that are being produced across the nation. His current play, Stupid F**kin Bird is now in production at The Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, directed by WM Artistic Director Howard Shalwitz and features set design by TDPS Professor Misha Kachman and Costumes by recent UMD MFA grad Laree Lentz. Posner has adapted other Chaim Potok novels besides "...Asher Lev", most recently The Chosen was produced by the premiere american regional theatre, Arena Stage. His new adaptation of Cyrano was recently produced by The Arden Theatre Company in Philadelphia ( a theatre company where he was co-founder) and here in Washington at The Folger Theatre. As a director Professor Posner has recently completed A Christmas Carol and To Kill a Mockingbird for Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and is currently working on a new production of The Tempest with music by Tom Waits for American Repertory Theatre at Harvard with set design by TDPS design professor Daniel Conway. Posner is the recipient of multiple Helen Hayes and Barrymore Awards for stage directing. Later this year he will be a guest respondent in the TDPS MFA Design programs annual portfolio review.
