Allan Davis wins ATHE's Graduate Student Paper Award

PhD student Allan Davis was the recipient of the Graduate Student Paper Award, a writing competition sponsored by the Theory and Criticism Focus Group

PhD student Allan Davis was the recipient of the Graduate Student Paper Award, a writing competition sponsored by the Theory and Criticism Focus Group, an organization for scholars of theatre and performance affiliated with the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE). All graduate students who presented research at ATHE's general conference recently held in Orlando this last August were eligible to submit their paper for consideration. This year there were 13 applicants.

Allan's paper, entitled "Playing Lamanite and Saving Whiteness: Racial Projects in the Mormon Miracle Pageant," was presented during the pre-conference for the American Theatre and Drama Society. That pre-conference was a fellows program designed to support the professional and academic development of theatre scholars currently enrolled in graduate school.

The award includes $150 in credit for books published by Michigan's university press.
