Creative and Performing Arts Awards for AY 2014-2015
1. Adriane Fang - Cardona/Melnick Project
For the Summer CAPAA Adriane proposed to collaborate with two esteemed choreographers in her genre, Wally Cardona and Jodi Melnick, to create a solo and duet (with Sharon Mansur), respectively, as the seed for a larger repertory that will form the content of a future concert of works that feature Adriane's dancing and choreography.
2. Helen Huang - A Movement-Based Multi-Media Design Project: Ghost Bride
3. Jennifer Barclay Newsham - Junk Science
Jennifer Barclay will be collaborating with nationally-renowned new plays director Kyle Donnelly (Arena Stage, Woolly Mammoth) to develop a new play investigating the topic of climate change. Jennifer and Ms. Donnelly hope to workshop a draft of the play with UMD students in the Fall of 2014, providing students with first-hand experience of the collaborative process of new play development.
