MFA Dance candidate Colette Krogol and team awarded A2RU Challenge Grant

Congratulations to MFA Dance candidate Colette Krogol and her team for being awarded the A2RU Challenge grant for Dance CTC – Dance Curating Through Community.

Congratulations to MFA Dance candidate Colette Krogol and her team for being awarded the A2RU Challenge grant for their project Dance CTC – Dance Curating Through Community.

Krogol attended the A2RU conference this past January at VCU. The organization offered a Challenge Grant to attendees, explaining they had $5000 to distribute between all of the projects proposals. Teams were asked to create a project that could be implemented in a community that focused on enrichment, engagement, and interdisciplinary work. Krogol's team was awarded $2,735 (over 55% of the overall funding!).

Other members of the team include Drew Barker, MA candidate in Library Science at the University of Maryland, Charles Gushue, MFA candidate in Dance at the University of Michigan, and Matt Dreier, MBA candidate in Art Administration with certificate in entrepreneurship at the University of Wisconsin.

Their project, titled Dance CTC – Dance Curating Through Community, is a new approach to empowerment, education, and engagement. Dance CTC will facilitate a nine-month community organized program where a city can curate its own dance performance series, culminating in a weekend-long workshop and performance festival that will leave the community with the tools to continue this process on their own for years to come.
