'Capers

OCTOBER 20-23, 2015

written and performed by ANU YADAV

directed and developed by PATRICK CROWLEY

based on the housing struggle of Friends and Residents of Arthur Capper/Carrollsburg

co-produced with DOG & PONY DC

From the writer and performer of the 2013 sold-out hit, Meena's Dream'Capers is a stirring blend of theater, documentary and activism. It's a one-woman show based on the stories of families at DC's Arthur Capper/Carrollsburg public housing projects - nicknamed 'Capers - who protested the government-funded demolition of their neighborhood. Since 2004, 'Capers has toured nationally to over 5,500 people and was included as required course curriculum for the 11th grade at DC's Bell Multicultural High School, as well as course reading at American University, University of Maryland, and University of Michigan. Returning to the piece after over 10 years, 'Capers looks at how a changing city affects the lives of those within it.
