Developed by artists and UMD faculty—dance professor Sharon Mansur and architecture professor Ronit Eisenbach—Placeholders is a free site-specific dance performance and art installation that will explore what it means to seek, shape, and preserve “place” in the face of transition from the construction of the new Purple Light Rail line in the Long Branch neighborhood of Silver Spring, MD. The performance is a part of Discover Long Branch's fall community event, Flower Fiesta: A Celebration of Art and Place, and also involves the collaboration of faculty, students, and alumni from the university.
