Plastic Bag Puppets with Artist-In-Residence Zvi Sahar

Ever wondered how you might recycle that plastic grocery bag? Make a puppet! Artist-in-residence Zvi Sahar works with his class "When Film and Puppetry Meet on Stage" to explore the synergy between puppetry and cinema.

Ever wondered how you might recycle that plastic grocery bag? Make a puppet!

TDPS artist-in-residence Zvi Sahar is working with students in his class "When Film and Puppetry Meet on Stage" to explore the synergy between puppetry and cinema, where they can co-exist and thrive.

Zvi Sahar comes to us through the Schusterman Visiting Israeli Artist Program in collaboration with TDPS and UMD's Israeli Studies department, and he is working with students to explore a variety of issues--such as environmentalism and the dramas of life and death--through puppetry. His students are also helping develop a new piece, based on Etgar Keret's stories.

Sahar will be showing his work "Salt of the Earth" at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on April 8th and 9th, at 8pm.
