Professor Dan Conway wins Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Set Design

Congratulations to Professor Dan Conway on winning a 2017 Helen Hayes Award for his outstanding set design on Hand to God at Studio Theatre!

Congratulations to Professor Dan Conway on winning a 2017 Helen Hayes Award for his outstanding set design on Hand to God at Studio Theatre! Conway's set design transformed the stage into a Texan church basement controlled by the demonic puppet Tyrone in Hand to God.

Dan was also nominated for the same award for his set design on Jelly's Last Jam at Signature Theatre. These nominations were #15 and #16 since joining the faculty of UMD TDPS, and his fourth win. Both projects were assisted by MFA candidates Matthew Buttrey, Tyler Herald, Emily Lotz, and Richard Ouellette.

Dan is currently working on new production of Macbeth, which will open the new theatre that Chicago Shakespeare Festival is building on Navy Pier in Chicago. The production will be directed by Aaron Posner and Teller of Penn and Teller.

Congratulations, Dan!
