June 09, 2016
Congratulations to our new Dorothy G. Madden Professor of Dance, Sara Pearson.
Congratulations to our new Dorothy G. Madden Professor of Dance, Sara Pearson! She will be taking over for Karen Bradley, who has held the position for the past two years, during which she created amazing experiences and interfaces for students to learn about the application of dance in a global context with some of the world's foremost leaders in Dance.
The Dorothy G. Madden Professorship is a two-year appointment in which the awarded Dance faculty focuses on creating opportunities for students to deeply engage in the professor’s research and creative process through workshops, symposiums, and events that enrich the student's experience and education at the University of Maryland. The Professorship is awarded by the Dean of Arts and Humanities for a two-year period to an Associate or Full Dance Professor who has made a significant contribution to the discipline.
As Dorothy Madden Professor of Dance, Pearson proposes a plan to create choreographic and dance opportunities with students through engagements with artists from Africa to Israel, as well as other events that will further distinguish the excellence of the education and experience of students of Dance at the University of Maryland.
