Performances include The Only Thing Is Itself by Nicole McClam, Seed by Megan Morse Jans, and Altared, a collaborative piece between MFA candidates in Dance and Music, and MA candidate in Plant Sciences.
The Only Thing Is Itself , by Nicole McClam, explores Nicole's experiences of being consumed with and ultimately confronting, accepting and overcoming her fears.
Seed, by Megan Morse Jans is a new, found-object solo exploring the tremendous journeys we undertake to create our families and is inspired by treasures found in our families' homes.
Shannon Dooling (MFA Candidate - Dance), Elizabeth Barton (Dancer and MA Candidate - Plant Sciences), and Yee Von Ng and Jonathan Cain (School of Music) are collaborating on Altared, a contemporary dance duet inspired by the tangos of Argentina and Finland, the concept of alter egos, Finnish mythology, and recent tragedies such as the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The work began as a pure-movement "trio for piano, cello, and modern dancer" for Dooling, Ng, and Cain as a part of Ng's First Doctoral Recital, and quickly blossomed into a thematic multimedia work exploring the notion: "We are all capable of unimaginable violence and unimaginable good." Projected images for the piece have been designed by Dooling and built with help from fellow MFA in Dance Candidate Robin Brown and TDPS faculty member Jared Mezzocchi.
