Open position: Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies in the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park.
University of Maryland School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies
Position Title: Visiting Assistant or Visiting Associate Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies, full-time, nine month position with possibility of renewal
Starting Date: August 23, 2013
Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience
Position Description: The successful candidate will teach courses in theatre and performance studies at undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching load is 2-3.
Program Description: The recent creation of the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies represents an exciting, collaborative endeavor. The School offers separate BA programs in Theatre and Dance; MA in Theatre and Performance Studies; PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies, and MFA programs in Dance, Design and Performance. The School currently has approximately 275 undergraduate and 75 graduate students enrolled.
Qualifications: Minimum requirements are PhD in Theatre or Performance Studies, two years of teaching experience at the university level, and evidence of the ability for advanced scholarship in the field of Theatre and Performance Studies. Facilities/Location: The School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies is housed in the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, a state-of-the-art complex with six performance venues, rehearsal rooms, production shops, classrooms, and the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library. Located just minutes from the Washington DC, the University is linked by mass transit to the fastest growing theatre market in the country. The region is home to more than 80 professional theatres, including Arena Stage, Woolly Mammoth Theatre, Studio Theatre, Signature Theatre, The Shakespeare Theatre Company and The Kennedy Center.
