Position summary:
Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Dance Education in the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies and to coordinate the Master’s degree in Dance Education with Certification with the College of Education. Duties include teaching, research, and service to the School, College, University, and the field. Requirements include certification in K-12 education or in-process of certification; experience mentoring dance educators in public education, and experience teaching developmental movement, arts integration, curriculum development, and assessment. Minimum qualifications:
- Candidates must have certification or must be in-process of certification to teach in K-12 education.
- Candidates must have experience teaching developmental movement, arts integration, curriculum development, and assessment. PhD or Master’s degree required.
- Candidates must articulate potential ability to generate research.
Preferences:
- Candidates with experience teaching and conducting research on issues applicable to diverse populations are preferred.
- Candidates with CMA or other movement analysis certification are preferred.
- Candidates willing to work collaboratively within and across campus academic units are preferred.
- Candidates with state-level certification in dance education are preferred.
- Candidates who are actively engaged in national and international dance organizations are preferred.
- Candidates who have experience teaching somatics, global dance forms, dance technology, and/or dance techniques are preferred.
